A Building Program That Glorifies God

Four questions you need to answer before starting a building program.

1. Will our building expansion Glorify God?

Will a building program with this church, with this pastor and at this time truly bring Glory to God? Seemingly, if your church is growing and you are running out of room, the answer could be yes!

Before you start your building program be sure you sit down and count the cost (Luke 14:28). Figure out if you have the money, time, staff and leadership for the job.

Knowing that the cost must be counted, be aware that time will be taken away from your study, prayer, family and an already busy schedule.

2. What is the purpose behind your building program?

No matter if this is a new building, remodeling or a renovation you will need to evaluate the purpose behind your building program and be sure that it's not driven by ego or leadership, but the Spirit.

Solomon failed the Lord and Israel miserably in his spiritual life even though he built a beautiful and magnificent temple for God.

3. Is the building program included in our mission statement?

The people of your church should know and understand your mission statement. Now you must pray fervently and fast to know the Lords will and clear direction for your building program.

Nehemiah had a major building project that he wanted to accomplish but did not move forward until after he fasted and mourned for four months seeking God's clear direction.

4. Does your building program fall under the "Absolutely Needed" category?

Have you thought of alternatives instead of a building program? You can go to two services instead of one if your growing out of your building or relocate to a gymnasium.

Possibly your true need is just more classroom space. Adult classes could meet in a large room and be at round tables for each class which could free up classrooms for other ages.

If you have answered the four questions above and through prayer and fasting the Lord will be glorified through this building program - then continue in confidence in Him.

Now that you are going to proceed, then follow the mandate of scripture and "Let all things be done decently and in order". Allow McNelly Construction to assist and instruct you in what should be an exciting and enriching opportunity in the life of your church.
