Audiobooks are a great alternative to traditional books for many people. They have been a valuable resource for the visually impaired for many years, but now they are enjoying an even wider audience. Commuters, students, and people who are just too busy to sit down with a book are all enjoying audiobooks.

Audiobooks used to be available only on cassette tape, but as technology has progressed the format has changed. Portable MP3 players have made it possible to download audiobook files to listen to while going about other activities. A great way to catch up on the latest bestseller is to download it to your MP3 player and listen to it while riding the train to work or working out in the gym.

You should use caution when listening to books while performing other tasks, since you can easily become distracted from both tasks. While you won't come to any harm if you miss a few paragraphs from your book, driving while listening to a book may contribute to an accident if you are focused on listening and fail to pay attention to your driving.
