In the bowling scene (both in North America and outside), one of the better-known companies that manufacture bowling equipment is Columbia Industries, Inc. They are well known mainly because of their high performance Columbia 300 bowling balls that are the result of painstaking and careful research.

Columbia Industries, Inc. is actually a brand for Ebonite Industries, also a manufacturer of ten-pin bowling equipment and peripherals. Some of Ebonite's other brands are Hammer Bowling, Dyno-Thane, and Robby's.

Columbia Industries manufactured its first polyester ball back in 1960, calling it the "Columbia 300".
