Changing the décor of your room is a strenuous task. The prospect of having painters occupy your room for days is enough for most people to forget about re-doing the décor. However, there is also an easy and fast way to change décor. That is by simply changing the wallpaper of your room. Wallpaper has character and individualist appeal. You have the option of wallpapering all walls or only a portion of the room. This would take even less time and you have a completely different striking decor in a matter of hours.

Wallpaper also allows you to give your room a different perspective by making longer or smaller. Not only this it also a very good way to make flawed walls look beautiful hiding all the flaws underneath. Compared to boring plain colour, wallpaper is definitely more interesting.

Once you've made your decision to wallpaper a room, there are a few more things to consider. So don't leave for the wallpaper store just yet. For one thing you have to find out what kind of wallpaper will create the effect that you're looking for.

Let's assume you are hoping to make a small room look bigger. In that case you should choose wallpaper with a small design or print. For example, you have a tiny bathroom that you want to appear larger, consider choosing a pattern of small flowers. As soon as the paper is applied it will feel roomier. Be sure to use lighter colors to enhance a room's size.

Using large designs and prints in the wallpaper will make a room seem smaller and much cozier. Dark colors will make a space seem smaller than it is so if your goal is to make a large room, such as your basement family room, appear to be bigger you'll want to choose wallpaper that is dark in color.

With wallpaper you can also make adjustments in the perspective of your room. For example , if you are choosing wallpaper for a room that has a low ceiling and you want to create the opposite illusion than you should choose a wallpaper that has either stripes or pattern that flows in vertical lines from top to bottom. Try it out to make your long and narrow rooms look much wider.

Wallpaper colours also influence the mood of the room and bring about atmospheric changes. At times especially in cold climatic conditions you want that your rooms should look much warmer. In such a case you would be wise in picking out colours that are earthy, warm and reflect hot weather such as red, amber, gold, and brick colour.

The opposite is true when you're trying to "cool" down a room. You'll want to pick colors such as green, blue, and all shades in between. Rooms that you might want to cool down are rooms that receive full sunlight.

Not only is the wallpaper easy to put up it is also very cost effective way or redoing your home according to your taste, simply with the wide varieties of colour and designs available. You can choose according to your pocket and taste. However, make sure that you pick out the right wallpaper for the right room for example for bathroom you need a more durable wallpaper, as it has to be able to bear the dampness and humidity every day.
