Should you have the bad luck of running low on fuel here, get prepared to pay through the teeth
“Riddle me this”, Caped Crusader, how do you become an “overnight sensation” if you can’t sing, dance or act and live in a ghost town with a nomadic population of between 10 and 30 people?
Well a decade or two back the most likely way was to someone. In these decadent and disturbing times, the culture is so far South of normal you don’t make headlines unless you massacre a lot of people. This is, indeed, a violent era.
So please permit me to reword my question… if you have no great talent to entertain people and are not A psych drug brain-soaked psychopathic serial killer then what could you possibly do to make headlines?
The answer? Pump gasoline!!!
And charge over FIVE DOLLARS per gallon!!
This will make you famous and infamous like a modern day Billy The Kid.
In recent days, as the price of oil hovered around $110 a barrel and gasolineoline prices soared nationwide, a gallon of regular gas at Amerigo was going for $5.20 where it has remained at since Christmans. The Amerigo station is in the town of Gorda (which I believe is the Spanish word for “fat”), on the outskirts of San Luis Obispo.
High octane gas was costing folks an even higher $5.40 a gallon, but at least they give you a free copy of the local newspaper!
To be fair, the American Automobile Association issued a report on Tuesday that the average price of a gallon of gasoline had attained $3.23. That’s flirting with record prices even when adjusted for inflation.
Another statistic of interest is that the highest historical norm price per gallon of gasoline in California, with proper attention given to inflation was in 1981 and was $1.91 then which is $4.50 in today’s dollars.
The owner of the Amerigo station, Leo Flores, said that the price reflected Gorda’s remote location as well as its reliance on a diesel generator to power the station.
Interesting discussions between customers and employees have led to a type of sardonic humor between and amongst the attendants at the station that serve the public and field their antagonisms.
They joke that paper towels to clean windshields come at “$35 a foot,” and that they have plans to attache slot-machine arms to the pumps. They also save copies of particularly large receipts — such as those for RVs — as souveneirs.
One attendant, Nick Osborn, 59, shared that one particularly irate customer who declared that he was a judge from New York and who threatened Nick with a class-action lawsuit.
“He shot photos and everything,” Osborn said.
And Gorda is not totally isolated in pricey gasoline along the coast.
The Chevron in Cambria had regular fuel at $3.95 on Thursday.
In Big Sur, the tourist hideaway 40 miles north, a gallon of regular went for $4.80 at one Shell station Tuesday.
So I suppose these are some isolated, atypical examples. Or are they an omen of things to come? What we all know with certainty is that the price of gasoline is out of control and unacceptable and headed in the wrong direction and with the rest of the economy crumbling and tent cities popping up across the country where former home owners finding shelter it is impacting in a big way.
So what options exist for you if you want to lower your gas usage?
WATER4GAS is offering information for a fee which individuals can use in their garage or wherever to build a small gizmo which instills hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture that their car or truck runs on.
The process makes smaller particles out of the particles that the engine uses as fuel. Therefore the system gets to use a lot more of it.
With WATER4GAS you can minimumly expect to lower your gas usage by 12%. But many are getting 30-50% improvement or even more. Those particles "musta" been pretty darn big in some systems before. But with WATER4GAS they are made consumable so you can lower your gas usage.
It also helps make emissions significantly cleaner.
This package of info has been purchased by over 9000 people already and the percentage of happy customers is about 99%! So that's a start!
