With the pervasiveness of the modern-day personal computer, it is hard to imagine our lives without them. In all aspects of our day-to-day activities, computers are involved that allow us to do things faster, more efficiently or more safely. We've grown accustomed to doing things as quickly as possible, and now won't settle for anything less.

Most of us live our lives on the fast lane. We like getting our things done quickly that when we are not able to accomplish them, we easily get bothered and frustrated. One thing that gets humans really distressed is a very slow running computer. The computer plays a very big role in our lives--we use this for work, school, to communicate with our family and friends--so when it doesn't work very well, we get quickly annoyed.

To solve this common problem, here are three effective ways to improve the speed of your computer.

1. RAM Upgrading

As your computer increases in age, you may have noticed that it has problems running newer software. Because new software is designed to take advantage of the newest, fastest computers, those who don't meet the optimal requirements for operation might encounter slower speeds or long pauses. One easy fix for the problem is to simply add more RAM. Adding RAM, which stands for Random Access Memory, can actually boost your computer's speed by quite a bit and can help to reduce or eliminate any slowness you are encountering.

2. Clean The Registry Of Your Computer

The registry is not an area of the computer that most PC users are familiar with, but it plays a very important role in how well your computer performs. The registry is made up of small files called registry keys, which instruct your computer on how to perform various functions. Over time, the processes of the registry can become bogged down with corrupted or outdated files, which can increase the work your computer needs to do to and slow down its performance. However, you can do a bit of cleaning on your registry and eliminate these problems by using registry cleaner software. Once the software fixes any problems that may be present, you should see an increase in the speed of your computer.

3. Do not Have Too Many Programs Running

In our fast involved world, we as humans love to multitask in order to obtain things or get things finished as quickly made as possible. But while doing that by running multiple programs on our computer at the same time, we significantly slow down the operating speed of our computers. For example, if a person does research on the Internet, while having Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint functioning at the same time, then without any doubt at all, their computer will run slow. Each computer has their limit in how much work they can handle simultaneously and if you violate that, your computer will not function at its best operating level.
