As we get older we often find that our bodies aren't working quite as well as they once did. One of the most common complaints I hear is people start to encounter problems with memory.

Many people experience memory loss, or a clouded memory. They are able to pin point those major events of their lives but when it comes to the finer details they just seem a bit hazy and distant.

Suprisingly maybe for some, this isn't just an issue that only affects the elderly. Memory loss can happen to anyone of any age. We all lead hectic lives and when we have so much on our minds, some information just slips through the cracks and we wonder why we can't recal things.

Many people have a bad memory when it comes to dates and that sort of thing they forget birthdays or lose things such as car keys, calculators even important documents.

When it only happens the odd time or two we tend to forget about it and just move on putting it down to being too busy at the time or something like that. However if it keeps happening it could indicate a problem needing deeper investigation.

Unexplained memory loss concerns people, they think they are losing it and it's not something very many people feel happy to talk about. Most would rather pretend it was just a slip and forget about it. Few choose to even talk to their doctor about it putting it down just to old age.

Memory loss can at most levels be improved on, provided it does not come as a result of serious medical problems or injury. Solutions range for more severe problems from drugs to simple memory training and health supplements for less serious memory issues.

One way of helping your memory is to write things down to help bring them back to the front of your mind. We often find this is all that is required to jog our memory back on track.

This works for a number of reasons sometimes when we know we can refer back to clarify information we feel less pressure to remember it and recall it naturally. That's why keeping a diary or journal often helps.

I have problems recalling names so I find if I repeat them a few times it helps implant them in my memory for the future give it a try it really works. It's even better if you try and imagine the person when saying their name.

Anyone can at some stage experience some degree of memory loss. But you can help your memory by building it up with brain exercises. These are similar to games you might have played as a child at school or with mom and dad.

The adult version may differ a slightly, but the idea works pretty much the same. Exercising the mind is much like exercising any other muscle within your body. If it's not stimulated your memory won't work as well as it did before and you will forget stuff.
