It's no longer compulsory for someone to read and write before he/she can acquire knowledge; thanks to audio book technology. The fact that novels and other fun and entertainment books now come in audio books also help to make audio book technology a life saver.

With the stress of having to sit and concentrate in "reading" a physical hardcover book, compared to the fun of "listening" to the audio book format of the same book, many these days only buy the former when the latter is unavailable. This can be attributed to why we now have as many audio book versions of popular book titles as we have the normal physical book format.

As far as I'm concerned, I am able to save a lot of time each day when I drive and "listen" to an audio book than I would have saved sitting in one spot and reading the book. With audio books, one can now gain knowledge, whether or not they have the time to spend reading.

Since humans are naturally lazy, children, the middle aged and oldies now prefer listening to audio books than reading. Calculating the cost of producing and marketing audio books would reveal how more cost effective it is to produce them than it is to produce the other book formats.

Lots of trees will be saved with audio books rather than hardcover and paperbacks, thereby leading to nature conservation. If you look at it closely, audio books have become indispensable because one can now listen and still work at the same time, without having to stop what they are doing.

For those who love to read in the dark but can't because of the hardcover and paperback, they can with audio books; this is one of the best benefits of audio books. Audio books can easily be obtained online for use on portable audio devices, to record on CD's, or for streaming on a computer. Search engines are used to locate sources for audio versions of books and once audio books to download are located, it is simple for even a beginner to obtain them. Some are free and other vendors require a fee per book or a monthly charge. Once a site is chosen, simply follow instructions until you see an instruction such as "download audio book" and the desired text is captured. Many can benefit from the audio format from busy people to those with disabilities.
